On the heels of several other recent national college and university rankings, ¾¨Ó㴫ý been named to the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education (WSJ/THE) annual list for the fifth consecutive year.
The WSJ/THE College Rankings 2021, which puts student success at is core, includes the results of the Times Higher Education U.S. Student Survey, which examines a range of key issues including students’ engagement with their studies, their interaction with their teachers and their satisfaction with their experience.
Of the four key areas examined—resources, engagement, outcomes and environment—¾¨Ó㴫ý scored the strongest in the resources pillar, which represents 30% of the overall ranking.
In this category, WSJ/THE rated ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s capacity to effectively deliver teaching by examining costs per student, student-to-faculty ratio and the number of academic research papers published by faculty members—indicators to students and their families that their college has the proper resources to provide the facilities, teaching and support necessary to succeed at college.
“This latest ranking confirms ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s commitment to delivering a collaborative and quality educational experience to our students,” said ¾¨Ó㴫ý Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jamie McMinn. “National data and rankings continue to show that ¾¨Ó㴫ý students receive individualized attention from our excellent faculty as they develop academic and professional skills that position them for success, not only as students but also as graduates.”
WSJ/THE ranked 790 universities based on 15 individual performance indicators combining to create an overall score reflecting the broad strength of the institution.
WSJ/THE’s ranking comes after ¾¨Ó㴫ý was recently named one of the best national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report in its “Best Colleges” guide released Sept. 14. In early September, Washington Monthly named ¾¨Ó㴫ý a best liberal arts college and a “best bang for the buck” school in its 2020 College Guide and Rankings, while Money magazine listed ¾¨Ó㴫ý as one of the “best colleges for your money” in its latest rankings released Aug. 25. ¾¨Ó㴫ý was also named to the Best in the Northeast list of Princeton Review’s “2021 Best Colleges: Region by Region.”
