Dr. William Joseph "Doc" McTaggart died Saturday, Jan. 7, in his home. He was 64
McTaggart was born Jan. 22 in McKeesport, a son of Joseph A. and Evelyn Marie Turizziani McTaggart.
McTaggart, professor emeritus at ¾¨Ó㴫ý taught in the English Department at ¾¨Ó㴫ý from 1975-2001.
McTaggart, who graduated from Clairton High School, earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, his master's and his Ph.D. from Ohio University. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Oxford University in England. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Wilmington Township.
Surviving are: his father of Beaver; a sister, Roslyn M. McTaggart Oberlitner, Beaver; a brother-in-law, Frank A. Oberlitner, Beaver; and two nephews, Frank J. Oberlitner and Scott R. Oberlitner, both Jefferson Hills.
His mother preceded him in death.

Dr. John Bonomo, assistant professor of computer science at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, has been selected to judge the world finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (CPC) in Prague, Czech Republic, March 28-April 1.
Several members of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý music faculty will give a concert Monday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m., in Orr Auditorium.

Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, was recently invited to speak at several institutions in Romania.

Dr. Samuel Lightner IV, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of physics and chair of the Department of Physics, recently attended a joint meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) and the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), where he presented information on "A New Chart and Teaching Materials on Cosmology from CPEP."
¾¨Ó㴫ý admissions staff will be visiting local high schools Oct. 29-Nov. 2.

Melissa Sanchez and Wesley Davis won't have to look very far to find a proud parent during Saturday's ¾¨Ó㴫ý commencement ceremony. Melissa's mother, Debra, and Wesley's father, Allen, will join their children on senior terrace in earning bachelor degrees.

¾¨Ó㴫ý will host artist Dan Keplinger for "Disability and Visual Culture Abstract" and a film showing Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Maple Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
¾¨Ó㴫ý's Office of Diversity Services and International Cultures Club have scheduled activities in observance of Diversity Week Nov. 13-19.
