NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Edward Cohen, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of political science, recently published an article in the Finnish Yearbook of International Law, Vol. 22.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Planetarium will host two shows this December. Â
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jake Erhardt International Film Series continues Tuesday, Oct.19, at 7 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center with "Babe."
 This 1995 Oscar-winning film about a pig who won't accept the edict "The way things are is the way things are"is both hilarious and heartwarming.
The International Film Series was recently named in honor of its founder, Dr. Jacob Erhardt, professor emeritus of German at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. Erhardt, who taught at ¾¨Ó㴫ý from 1968 until his retirement in 2004, served as chair of his department from 1970-1986, was named the Language Educator of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Modern Languages Association, translated into English Robert Reitzel's Adventures of a Greenhorn, and was recognized by the National Endowment for the Humanities as an outstanding member.

Dr. David Barner, chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre, and Art at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently presented his research to the Broadcast Education Association convention in Las Vegas.
"My research Audio Basics-Skills that Bridge the Disciplines: Professional Advice for the Digital World' involved personally interviewing media professionals in radio, television, and theatre fields for their advice on what should be taught in a beginning level audio production course," Barner said. "I presented ideas on how to move teaching from traditional analog media, such as audio tape, to the newer digital, computer-based media. I placed a special emphasis on skills that could benefit multiple disciplines."
Barner was also part of a larger panel on "For the Good of Students: Integrating Radio/Audio Production Skills Throughout the Entire Curriculum."
"Many radio/audio production courses have been designed mainly for students wanting to pursue careers in radio," Barner said. "With the advent of audio recording software and other digital technologies, many of these skills, however, are applicable and useful to other areas such as TV, film, music, and theatre. The panelists discussed various ways in which radio/audio production courses have been developed, revised, or broadened to serve and to benefit all students within their departments."
Barner, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1981, is also an associate professor of broadcast communications. He earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Shippensburg and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Four international students attending ¾¨Ó㴫ý will speak at the Diversity Symposium, "Through Other's Eyes, Our International Students in America," Tuesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. in the Berlin Student Lounge located in the ¾¨Ó㴫ý McKelvey Campus Center.
Student speakers include: Jelena Gerga, a sophomore international politics and political science major originally from Serbia, is a daughter of Gabriel and Aurelia Gerga, Lakewood, Ohio, and a graduate of Lakewood High School; Lawunmi "Lulu" Lawani, a junior economics major, is a daughter of Titilola and Olatunde Lawani, Nigeria, and a graduate of St. Pauls College High School; Thokozani "Thoko" Mbewe, a mathematics and accounting major, is a son of John Mbewe, Nigeria; and Patrick "Paddy" Donnelly, an exploratory major, is a son of Desmond Donnelly, Ireland.
"They will talk about their experiences and perceptions of American life," said Dr. Neal Edman, dean of student affairs at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. "They will discuss their interpersonal and political adjustment to life in America. They have fascinating perceptions."
Edman and Dr. Kristin Park, associate professor of sociology, will facilitate the event.
"We will intersperse trivia about their native lands and will serve finger foods from their countries," Edman said. "The audience will have time to participate in a question and answer session, too."
Among the many facets of a ¾¨Ó㴫ý education is the exchange of different ideas and philosophies and the acquisition of diversity of knowledge, experiences, and values. To this end, the Diversity Symposium provides a knowledge and appreciation of differences among people, human cultures, and the natural world.

Erin Smith has been hired as an assistant librarian at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.
