Dr. Peter A. Groothuis, associate professor of economics at ¾¨Ó㴫ý co-authored a research paper measuring the economic benefits of the NHL's Penguins to Pittsburgh. His research will be published as the lead article in the February issue of the Journal of Sports Economics. The study was also cited in an economics feature in the Nov. 20 issue of Business Week.
Jeanetta Antus, a senior music education major at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, will perform a trombone recital Friday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
Her program includes "Morceau Symphonique" by Alexandre Guilmant, "Romanza Appassionata" by Carl Maria von Weber, "Sonata in F major" by Benedetto Marcello, "Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra" by Lars-Erik Larsson, and "Lassus Trombone" by Henry Filmore.
The following students have been added to the Spring 2006 Dean's List at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.

Bradley P. Tokar was appointed Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. He served the past year as interim director.

Dr. Robin Lind, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of music and director of choral activities, served as guest conductor at the District II Choral Festival held Feb. 7-9 in St. Marys.
Kristen Bredniak, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý senior biology major, received an undergraduate research grant from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Kristen Sargent, a 2007 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate and current student in ¾¨Ó㴫ý's graduate program, received a travel/presentation grant from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to present her research at the Association for Biological Laboratory Education (ABLE) conference June 10-13 at the University of Delaware in Newark.

Five ¾¨Ó㴫ý senior chemistry and biochemistry majors presented their research at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) Feb. 28-March 5 in Orlando, Fla.
Seven ¾¨Ó㴫ý broadcast communications majors will present their capstone project showcase Tuesday, Nov. 16, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Ten ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty will present "A Cross-Disciplinary Examination of Service-Learning at ¾¨Ó㴫ý: Five Years of Best Practices" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center.
