Five ¾¨Ó㴫ý students from the School of Communication recently attended a day-long public relations workshop hosted by the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 21 at Acrisure Stadium.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý students attending were juniors Saige Heigel ’24, a strategic communications and social media major from Kersey, Pa.; Alex Marinski ’24, a strategic communications and social media major from Washington, Pa.; Maxwell Robinson ’24, a strategic communications and social media major from Pittsburgh; Andrew Tedesco ’24, a broadcasting and sports communications major from Elmsworth, Pa.; and Ryan Thibault ’24, a creative media production major from Glenshaw, Pa.
Hosted by the Steelers Communications Department, the summit’s speakers—which included Pittsburgh Steelers Senior Director of Communications Burt Lauten, a 1999 graduate of ¾¨Ó㴫ý—discussed topics such as NFL public relations, social media and resume building.
“The PR summit was a great experience for me, especially seeing how my current classes align with realal-world industry situations,” said Marinski. “I am so glad that the School of Communication gave me this opportunity to experience a taste of what post-graduation may look like for myself.”
This trip was sponsored by the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
