The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Eastern Regional Conference at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., in February 2024.
Chosen through a blind selection process, ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s 40-member Wind Ensemble is one of only six bands invited to perform at the conference. Other ensembles performing are from Penn State University, University of Delaware, Dartmouth College, Cornell University and Montclair University.
“For music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, nothing of this stature has been achieved in the past, and I could not be prouder of our student musicians,” said Dr. R. Tad Greig, director of the Wind Ensemble and professor of music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.
Wind Ensemble student musicians are selected each year through an audition process. The ensemble, which performs a variety of challenging established and new works, has received numerous peer-reviewed commendations, most notably three guest appearances at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Conference. They have also received favorable mention in the past three National Association of Schools of Music reviews. In 2017 the group won the American Prize for top national wind ensemble. The Wind Ensemble also shared international performance tours to Spain and Scotland with the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Concert Choir.
The Wind Ensemble will perform on Friday, Feb. 23, in Bailey Hall on the Cornell University campus.
