Jeff Grobaski ’97 earns Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award

¾¨Ó㴫ý alumnus Jeff Grobaski ’97, founder and CEO of software company was named ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year during the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) Symposium and School of Business Award Ceremony held on March 29.

The Colorado-based fintech Epic River, founded in 2005, infuses innovation, alternative approaches and highly efficient software to help banks and credit unions create a superior user experience. Currently the company’s client list includes over 600 community banks and credit unions.

“What an honor to receive the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from ¾¨Ó㴫ý,” said Grobaski. “It’s humbling to return to the institution that played such a vital role in my journey and to be recognized amongst such an impressive group of bright students, recent graduates and industry leaders.  Their energy and ideas are truly inspiring, and it speaks volumes about the caliber of education and the entrepreneurial spirit nurtured at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.”

Before launching Epic River, Grobaski spent several years in software development and product management. He began his career as a systems engineer at EDS, where he worked on several medical and accounting logistics for the U.S. Department of Defense. He later served in product leadership for banking software provider TREEV.

Grobaski spoke to students about his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting his experiences, challenges and achievements. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from ¾¨Ó㴫ý in 1997.

Grobaski currently resides in Fort Collins, Colo., with his wife and four children.

The symposium also recognized School of Business scholarship recipients and offered networking opportunities for WEC students.

The WEC is located in ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s School of Business and offers students the opportunity to be exposed to concept creation, innovation of ideas and business ownership strategies. The WEC provides spaces and resources for student entrepreneurs to turn their business ideas into new enterprises. Through entrepreneurial exposures, leadership collaboration, entrepreneurial engagements, competitions and events, students are exposed to real world practical experiences.

The School of Business established the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014.
