CANCELLED DUE TO FORECASTED STORMS.
Three ¾¨Ó㴫ý music ensembles—Ceòl na Teud, Chamber Singers and Jazz Ensemble—will offer a free concert in the park at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the New Wilmington Borough Park Amphitheater as part of the Beyond the Quad Art Series.
Ceòl na Teud—under the direction Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu and made up of fiddles, guitar, mandolin, flute and bass—will feature lively Scottish dance tunes like “The Wappinschaw,” “Jenny Dang the Weaver” and “Tam Lin,” alongside jigs and their version of ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s Alma Mater. All will be performed in the traditional Scottish style.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Chamber Singers, the College’s premiere choral ensemble led by Dr. Ryan Keeling, will present Bob Chilcott’s “A Little Jazz Mass” for chamber choir and jazz combo featuring piano, drums and bass.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jazz Ensemble, directed by JaKobe Henry, will close out the performance with three tunes from a variety of genres.
Free and open to the public, this concert is part of ¾¨Ó㴫ý’s Beyond the Quad Art Series, the goal of which is to connect students and the community through the arts.
Beyond the Quad Art Series is supported by ¾¨Ó㴫ý alumni Bob and Debby (Caleskie) Jewell, both 1980 graduates, and coordinated by the Center for Professional Development and Community Engagement at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.
