The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Woodwind Quintet will present a recital Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
Although the membership of the group has varied, the group has been actively performing on campus for almost 15 years. Current members are:
Donald Byo, ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct music faculty, on bassoon.
Louis Colella, ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct music faculty, on clarinet.
Brianne Olssen, freelance flutist, on flute.
Shawn Reynolds, ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct music faculty, on oboe.
James Scanga, a senior music education major, is a son of James and Kimberly Scanga of Sharpsville and a graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School. Scanga will play horn.
"The group will play a variety of music to illustrate the flexibility of a woodwind quintet," Reynolds said. "Dr. Nancy DeSalvo [¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor and chair of the Department of Music] will join us for a piece written by Thuille for piano and woodwind quintet."
"In addition, smaller groups of two to four instruments will perform chamber works by Laillet, Ewazen, and Mucynski," Reynolds said.
