Amanda Allwang, a senior music education major with a concentration in saxophone, will present her senior capstone recital Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Tower Room of Old Main.
Recital numbers include classical and contemporary works by such composers as Paul Creston, Maurice Ravel, and Darius Milhaud; and jazz pieces that include improvisation.
Allwang, a graduate of Northern High School, is a daughter of William and Belinda Allwang of Huntingtown, Md.
She studied at ¾¨Ó㴫ý with James Flowers, ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct faculty in music. Allwang participated in Titan Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Saxophone Quartet, and pit orchestra for Theatre ¾¨Ó㴫ý and Chapel Drama.
Allwang is a member of Phi Mu sorority, Mu Phi Epsilon music honor fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Allies, Seekers, and Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association (PCMEA). She worked with the Orr Auditorium stage crew on lighting, sound, and as a stagehand.
