¾¨Ó㴫ý will host Dr. Kathleen Blee, distinguished professor of sociology, women's studies and history at the University of Pittsburgh, speaking on "The Women inside Organized Racism" Thursday, April 10, at 4:15 p.m. in the Berlin Student Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Blee has written and edited numerous books, including Inside Organized Racism: Women in the Hate Movement and Women of the Klan: Racism and Gender in the 1920s. She has spoken extensively on national, international, and local television and radio programs, and been interviewed on the topics of David Duke, the Ku Klux Klan, hate crimes and violence, and organized racism.
In addition to her distinguished professor rank, the University of Pittsburgh honored Blee with the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award and the Provost's Award for Excellence in Mentoring. She received the 2007 American Association of University Women Senior Scholar Commendation of Honor.
