Seniors to Present Recital

¾¨Ó㴫ý senior music education majors Sonia Firster and Tara Grgurich will present their senior recital Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Firster, a soprano, is a daughter of Samuel and Kathleen Firster of Titusville and a graduate of Maplewood High School. Her portion of the program includes selections from Vivaldi, Brahms, Mozart, Debussy, Dvorak, Gilbert and Sullivan, Rorem, and Maury Yeston.

She is a member of ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Concert Choir and Chamber Ensemble and is active in the American Choral Directors Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon and Pi Sigma Pi honor societies. She has appeared in Opera ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Die Fledermaus, "Magically Mozart," L'amour L'amour L'amour, and The Gypsy Baron; and in Theatre ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Guys and Dolls, Quilters, and Once Upon a Mattress.

Firster studies voice with ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct music faculty William Ambert and piano with Kathy Miller, College organist, who will accompany her for the recital. Her faculty adviser is Dr. Robin Lind, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of music and director of choral activities.

Grgurich, whose major includes a concentration in flute, is a daughter of Jerry Grgurich of Hermitage and Debbie Datchuk of Hubbard, Ohio. She is a graduate of Hickory High School. Her portion of the program includes works of Bach, Mozart, and Faure.

She is a member of ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Symphonic Band, Titan Marching Band, Women's Choir, Women's Chamber Ensemble, and Flute Choir. She is involved in Mu Phi Epsilon and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies, Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, and has taught music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý's preschool.

Grgurich is from the flute studio of ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct music faculty David Tessmer, and is director of music at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Hermitage.
