Seraphim Chorus, a community choir, will present their first concert, "Let There Be Joy," Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. at Boardman (Ohio) Methodist Church and Friday, Dec. 26, at noon at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle.
Both concerts are open to the public and a freewill offering will be taken.
The chorus is under the direction of Mr. Kris Harper, ¾¨Ó㴫ý adjunct faculty in music, director of the Women's Chorus, and 1981 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate. Kathryn D. Miller, ¾¨Ó㴫ý organist, will accompany the group.
¾¨Ó㴫ý students appearing as soloists include:
Ian Turner, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý junior music education major with a concentration in voice, is a son of C. David Turner and Sharon Turner, both of Grove City, and a graduate of Grove City Area High School. He will sing "Thus Saith the Lord" and "But Who May Abide the Day of His Coming" from Handel's Messiah.
Stephanie Witzorreck, a senior music education major, is a daughter of Kathy Witzorreck and the late Arnold Witzorreck of Jamestown and a graduate of Jamestown Area High School. She will sing "Behold, a Virgin Shall Conceive" and "O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings to Zion" from Handel's Messiah.
The program includes holiday selections by Schutz, Menotti, Rutter, Handel, and Faure.
