Dr. Charlene Klassen Endrizzi, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of education, gave a presentation at the 98th annual National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) conference Nov. 21 in San Antonio.
As one of 15 NCTE 2007-2008 authors, Klassen Endrizzi's session, "Getting at the Real Questions: Inquiring with Students and Families," focused on her recent book Becoming Teammates: Teachers and Families as Literacy Partners. She shared highlights of her collaborative research with ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate and undergraduate students over the last 12 years.
"Audience members considered various stages for building more productive family-school partnerships with children's first learning partners, from simple home surveys and literacy newsletters to more complex family literacy gatherings," Klassen Endrizzi said.
Klassen Endrizzi, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1993, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from Fresno Pacific College and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
