¾¨Ó㴫ý offers students an outstanding undergraduate education and is included as one of "The Best 371 Colleges" in the nation, according to The Princeton Review, the New York-based education services company.
¾¨Ó㴫ý is featured in the 2010 edition of The Princeton Review annual college guide, The Best 371 Colleges. ¾¨Ó㴫ý is also honored as one of "Best in the Northeast." ¾¨Ó㴫ý earned special recognition for its relationship with the community in the "Town-Gown Relations are Great" category, and ¾¨Ó㴫ý's student radio station, WWNW 88.9FM, earned recognition as one of the "Best College Radio Stations." ¾¨Ó㴫ý students were included in the least politically active category in spite of having one of the nation's longest-running Mock Conventions which involves two-thirds of ¾¨Ó㴫ý students.
Only about 15% of the four-year colleges in America and two Canadian colleges are included in the book.
The guide's editors noted ¾¨Ó㴫ý's increasing selectivity, cozy atmosphere and well-regarded pre-professional programs. Students surveyed described ¾¨Ó㴫ý as a place "where professors are dedicated to helping students on all levels from within the classroom and outside of class, in fact professors are known to call students on the weekends at home to discuss coursework."
Other comments included, "The community is like a family bound together with blue and white pride and a love for the people who are attending and those who have moved on. Once you become a part of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý tradition, it lasts a lifetime."
"We commend ¾¨Ó㴫ý for its outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria for our choice of schools for the book," according to Robert Franek, Princeton Review's vice president of publishing. "We make our choices based on institutional data we gather about schools, feedback from students attending them, and input from our staff who visit hundreds of colleges a year. We also value the opinions and suggestions of our 23-member National College Counselor Advisory Board, and independent college counselors we hear from yearlong."
