The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Psychology Preschool Lab will celebrate Week of the Young Child through April 17 with a variety of activities to honor young children and those who make a difference in children's lives.
Guest readers at the preschool include: ¾¨Ó㴫ý President Dr. Richard H. Dorman; Dr. Susan Parker, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of education; and Lawrence County Commissioner and ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate Dan Vogler.
Additional activities include:
- New Castle orthodontist Dr. Richard Ribarevski, speaking on dental health
- Parent Night for families of ¾¨Ó㴫ý Preschool Lab students at ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Outdoor Biology Field Station, featuring Field Station Director Dr. Clarence Harms
- Artwork displays in the Post Office and First National Bank in New Wilmington and in ¾¨Ó㴫ý's McKelvey Campus Center
- Puppet show by the Lawrence County Blind Association
"The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning in our educational system, and to bring the community together to help give all young children a great start," said Dr. Mandy Medvin, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor and Gibson-Drinko Distinguished Chair of Psychology.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Preschool Lab, established in 1990, is a multi-purpose facility that serves the College and the community.
Designed by early childhood experts, the laboratory school incorporates innovative curriculum, well trained staff, developmentally appropriate equipment, and individual attention. Under the direction of Medvin and teachers Deborah Roud and Diana Reed, the preschool is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs.
