Dr. Colleen Burke, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of communication studies, was elected vice president of the Pennsylvania Communication Association for 2010-2011.
Burke has been a member of the organization since 1999, serving as chair of the Communication Education Interest Council (2009-2010) and co-chair of the Communication Education Interest Council and the Interpersonal/Organizational Communication Interest Council (2008-2009).
As vice president, Burke will write and circulate the organization's newsletters; assist with recruitment of new members through an advertising and promotion campaign; and plan and execute the 2011 annual conference to be hosted by ¾¨Ó㴫ý in October.
The Pennsylvania Communication Association, founded in 1939, promotes teaching, research, service, and development in all areas of human communication.
Burke, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2002, earned undergraduate and master's degrees and Ph.D. from Duquesne University.
