¾¨Ó㴫ý is offering a "Foundation Theater Camp" for students ages 12-18 June 26-30 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with a special performance Friday, June 30, at 8 p.m. in Beeghly Theater.

"The goal of the camp is to enhance the knowledge of theatrical performance in our area's youth," said Robert Patrick Allen, camp director.  "Each day will include a series of short lectures, improvisations, character-building exercises, and rehearsals of short scenes, which will culminate in a performance to friends, family, and the general public at the end of the week."

"We will also focus on teaching the students relaxation and some basic vocal techniques," Allen said.  "This year we will also be including a minor focus on musical theater singing.  This portion will be headed up by my assistant, Justin Bryan, who is a 2005 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate in theater."

Allen, who graduated from ¾¨Ó㴫ý in 2005, is currently a second-year master's student at The New School for Drama in New York City.  He is studying under Ron Leibman, who played Rachel's father on Friends.

"We hope to provide the participants with a solid base of theater performance learning through practical application," Allen said.  "The camp is designed to be an asset to a first-time student or a seasoned performer."

The cost of the camp is $100, which includes a breakfast snack and lunch.  Contact Allen at robertpatrickallen@yahoo.com for more information.
