¾¨Ó㴫ý School of Music presents Gala Concert on April 26

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – The ¾¨Ó㴫ý School of Music will present a Gala Concert featuring the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jazz Ensemble, the Chamber Singers and the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium.

Under the direction of Dr. Don Schade, the Chamber Singers will perform Zoltán Kodály’s “Jesus and the Traders,” five pieces from Earl George’s “Songs of Innocence” and “Five Hebrew Love Songs,” a collection of pieces by Eric Whitacre.

The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Timothy Winfield, will perform five selections: Tom Molter’s “Apollo’s Reel” featuring junior Courtney Labritz on trumpet and senior Timothy Savage on alto saxophone; Chip McNeill’s “Aaron’s Blues” featuring junior Samuel Sherlock on tenor saxophone, sophomore Benjamin Patosky on bass trombone; junior Timothy Hering on trumpet; and senior Patrick Raymond on trombone; Kris Berg’s “Squiggly” featuring junior Tyler Snodgrass on guitar and junior Liam Horgan on tenor saxophone; Mike Carubia’s arrangement of the Glenn Miller/Mitchell Parish piece “Moonlight Serenade” and Darmon Meader’s arrangement of the Burton Lane/Alan Jay Lerner song “On a Clear Day,” both featuring the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Chamber Singers.

The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Symphony Orchestra, led by Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu, will close out the concert with the Pennsylvania premiere of the piano concerto “Elvendream,” composed by Dr. Daniel Perttu, associate professor of music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, and featuring Omaha Conservatory of Music pianist Tammy Miller.
