About Mock Convention

¾¨Ó㴫ý is home to the second oldest Mock Convention in the nation. Every four years since 1936 (with the exception of the wartime year of 1944), a Campus-wide event has been held for ¾¨Ó㴫ý to nominate a candidate for President of the United States.

The Convention is held for the party out-of-power, so this year's Convention will represent Republican Party candidates. It is a simulation, so it doesn't matter whether you are a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Bull Mooser, or Whig, everyone can participate!

Matt Lewis, the nationally-known political commentator, will kick off the student-organized convention with a keynote address on Wednesday, November 15, in Orr Auditorium.

Convention activities resume the evening of Thursday, November 16, when Memorial Field House is transformed into a Convention Hall. Students portray the candidates who are the current front-runners according to recent polls. This year's candidates are:

  • Former President Donald Trump, represented by junior Molecular Biology and Criminal Justice Studies double major Lily Hefner of Washington, Pa.
  • Governor Ron DeSantis, represented by junior Political Science and Broadcasting and Sports Communication double major Jack Mickle of Presto, Pa.
  • Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, represented by senior Political Science major and Secondary Education minor Bradley Green of Landisville, Pa.
