Dr. Jamie Chapman Named a 2017 Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Teaching and Learning Workshop Fellow

Last semester, assistant professor of sociology Dr. Jamie Chapman was named a 2017 Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Teaching and Learning Workshop Fellow. AKD is an international sociology honor society whose purpose is to promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, as well as other social and intellectual activities that will lead to improvement of the human condition.

Weaver Awarded 鈥淏est in Show鈥 in Creative Works Competition

Broadcast communications faculty Brad Weaver was awarded “Best in Show” in the faculty division of the Creative Works Competition at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) On-Location 2017 Super-Regional Conference at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. BEA “is a premiere international academic media organization [that drives] insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals.”

Getting Connected: Anthony Akoto 鈥19

Over the summer, junior business administration major Anthony Akoto learned he was returning to the States from his home in Ghana earlier than anticipated this semester. After putting countless hours into his application for the Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) Career Prep program, Anthony received the great news he patiently waited for all summer— a position in the program! Soon after, he was invited and attended the MLT opening ceremony in Texas.

The Wall Street Journal/Times鈥 Higher Education Ranks 鲸鱼传媒 in the Top 25 Percent of US Colleges

For the second year in a row, The Wall Street Journal/Times’ Higher Education College Ranking placed 鲸鱼传媒 in the top 25% of higher education institutions in the nation. The 2018 College Ranking puts graduate success and student learning at its core by evaluating a combination of public data and survey responses from current students.

Dr. Pete Smith Elected Councilor in American Chemical Society

Fine Art Faculty Summer Zickefoose Shows Work in Three Exhibitions this Fall

Summer Zickefoose, fine art faculty member at 鲸鱼传媒, has work showing in three exhibitions this Fall. Zickefoose has a sculpture in the 'Both Artist and Mother' exhbit at the Loft Gallery at Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge Montana; a sculpture in the 11th Annual HWD juried sculpture exhibition at the Rosewood Gallery in Kettering, Ohio—for which Zickefoose won the juror's choice award; and she is part of a four-person show, 'Remains', at the Philadelphia Art Alliance in Downtown Philadelphia.

International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity Elects Dr. Jim C. Rhoads as President

The 33rd consecutive International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity meeting proved to quite eventful for Dr. James C. Rhoads, professor of political science. At the meeting held Sept. 7-9 in Glasgow, Scotland at Glasgow Caledonian University, Rhoads presented two papers with his co-authors and was elected president of the Society.
