Poet Jeredith Merrin will read and discuss her poetry at the Bleasby Colloquium Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Sabastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center.
Merrin is the author of two collections of poetry, "Shift," released in 1996, and "Bat Ode" released in 2001, from the University of Chicago Press Phoenix Poets Series. She has also published a book of criticism, "Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Bishop and the Uses of Tradition," and a number of essays and reviews appear in publications such as "The Southern Review." She is currently writing two more books "Mon Age," a new collection of poetry, and "Of Two Minds," a collection of essays on poets and poetry.

This colloquium is the fifth in a series of events scheduled for the George Bleasby Colloquia, a series of literary events in honor of Dr. Bleasby, who chaired the Department of English at ¾¨Ó㴫ý from 1954-75.

Dr. Elizabeth Harrison, assistant professor of music and college organist at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, will perform a recital Monday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
¾¨Ó㴫ý is offering Continuing Education classes ranging from yoga, to computers, to gardening, to parenting.
¾¨Ó㴫ý will host "A Little Bug Music," a children's opera, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 5-6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Berlin Student Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Three ¾¨Ó㴫ý students presented their research at the meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers.

Albert (Buzz) Scherr, professor of law at Franklin Pierce Law Center and nationally-recognized authority on forensic DNA evidence, will speak at ¾¨Ó㴫ý Wednesday, April 25, at 5 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall of the Hoyt Science Resources Center.
¾¨Ó㴫ý's Office of Diversity Services will host its annual Black History Month Celebration Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.


A group of Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery will visit ¾¨Ó㴫ý Monday-Thursday, Oct. 13-16, in the Witherspoon Lakeview Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.

Rhapsody, a composition for violin, clarinet, and piano written by Dr. Daniel Perttu, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of music, was recently published by BRS Music, Inc., in Indianapolis.
¾¨Ó㴫ý students in an "Understanding Religious Experience and Expression" class recently visited the Sri Venkateshwara Hindu Temple in Penn Hills.
