Twenty-nine ¾¨Ó㴫ý employees were recognized for over 500 years of service during the annual employee recognition luncheon May 9 in Russell Dining Hall.
"It is fitting that we take this time to recognize those who have reached certain milestones in their working careers," said Dr. John Deegan Jr., vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College.
"This is the day we celebrate an essential component of ¾¨Ó㴫ý&you," said ¾¨Ó㴫ý President R. Thomas Williamson to the crowd of over 200 ¾¨Ó㴫ý employees and retirees.
Retiring from ¾¨Ó㴫ý are: Dr. Monika A. Becker, professor of biology since 1983; Dr. Allen C. Johnston, professor of education since 1976; Dr. William M. McTaggart, professor of English since 1975; Katharine S. McLaughry, user services coordinator since 1988; and Robert E. Orndorff, receiver for Sodexho-Marriott Dining Services since 1986.
Other honorees are:
35 Years of Service - Dr. Frederick Horn, professor of English.
30 Years of Service - Dr. William L. Johnson, professor of physics
25 Years of Service - Dr. Barbara T. Faires, professor of mathematics; Dr. Alan G. Gittis, professor of psychology; Dr. Darwin W. Huey, associate professor of education; Donald E. Shelenberger, business manager; and Dr. Richard L. Sprow, professor of English.
20 Years of Service - Dr. David L. Barner, associate professor of communication studies; Dorita E. Bolger, associate professor and reference librarian; Dennis G. Link, receiver for Sodexho-Marriott Dining Service; Kathleen I. Suosio, secretary in the Office of Student Affairs; and Paul Wallace, director of information services.
15 Years of Service - Linda L. Butler, bookstore clerk; Kenneth P. Cline Sr., custodian; James A. Kirkwood, custodian; David C. McCann, custodian; and Carroll J. Shaw, purchasing officer in the Information Systems Department.
10 Years of Service - Dr. Kent D. Carter, associate professor of economics and business; Nick E. Ciavarino, custodian; Cynthia S. Dafler, coordinator of development and alumni events; Sean M. Kelly, head baseball and assistant football coach; Madeline A. Kreslick, catering manager for Sodexho-Marriott Dining Service; Patricia L. Lewis, technical assistant at the McGill Library; and Sheri L. Parson, custodian.
