Posted on Tuesday, May 1, 2001

Suzanne Prestien, instructor of English and public relations at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently presented a paper at the Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association Annual Conference.

Her paper, "A Whole Lotta Love: The Rock Concert Film and American Culture," deals with her analysis of the movies Woodstock and The Song Remains the Same.

"Most rock concert films offer us snapshots of our society at the time they were filmed," said Prestien. "You can learn a lot about the culture and the time period by studying these movies."

While at the conference, Prestien also chaired "Film and History: Exploring Stereotypes in Motion Pictures," a session that dealt with gender and ethnic stereotyping in movies like Schindler's List and The Thomas Crown Affair.

Prestien, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1997, earned her undergraduate degree from Kent State University, and her master's from the University of Toledo.
