Posted on Monday, December 9, 2002

Elizabeth Harrison, assistant professor of music and college organist at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently released her new CD, "The Sweelinck School of German Organists."

"My CD presents early Baroque music from Germany that was influenced by the 17th century Dutch organist Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck," said Harrison. "The new release is played on the world-famous Fisk-Nanney organ located at Stanford University."

Harrison is the founder of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Historic Organ Program, which offers students an opportunity to stay in an apartment in Germany and play the historical organs located there.

Harrison earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University, her master's from the New England Conservatory, and her D.M.A. from Stanford University. She studied under Harold Vogal, one of the world's specialists on German Baroque organs, and has performed extensively in Germany and the Netherlands.

Copies of the CD can be obtained from Harrison or at the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Bookstore. For more information, contact Harrison at (724) 946-7024 or e-mail harrisea@westminster.edu.
