Dwight E. Copper, a library technical assistant at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently published his investigations of eight local cemetery and church records.

"Most of the investigations include an alphabetical census of the cemeteries or listings of the interred by sections and rows," said Copper. "Most books also include a great deal of genealogical data gathered from newspaper obituaries family histories and death registers."

Copper's Lawrence County investigations include Bethel United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Briar Hill Cemetery, and Hopewell Cemetery. Beaver County accounts include North Sewickley Cemetery, Concord Methodist Church Cemetery, and St. John's (Burry's) United Evangelical Protestant Church Cemetery and Church History.

Copper has been doing genealogical and local history research for about 15 years, with a focus on collecting, researching, printing cemetery records and church histories. He has researched over 90 cemeteries in Lawrence and Beaver Counties, and has published over 35 volumes of such tombstone inscriptions, with brief histories of the accompanying church.

Cooper, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1982, earned his undergraduate degree in library science and history from Slippery Rock University.
