A holiday tradition continues at ¾¨Ó㴫ý with the annual Christmas Vesper service Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

The service, which annually attracts about 2,000 visitors, includes traditional Christmas music, which is sung by the audience and various ¾¨Ó㴫ý choirs. Dr. Robin Lind will direct the Concert Choir, the Chamber Choir, and the Men's Choir, while Sharon Rotuna will direct the Women's Choir. Elizabeth Harrison, college organist, will perform several numbers on the pipe organ, and the Rev. Steve Allen, college chaplain, will deliver the sermon.

Holiday music will also be performed by various ¾¨Ó㴫ý instrumental groups including: the Flute Choir, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quartet, String Duet, String Trio, and the Horn Ensemble.

The Christmas gifts displayed in Orr Lobby were purchased by members of the College Community for needy families and foster children in Lawrence County - a annual project coordinated by the Chapel staff led by Keturah Laney, chapel assistant. Campus luminaries, which provide a lighted path to the event, were purchased by the Residence Life Staff.

The evening's offering is designated for the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity International. The chapter is attempting to raise $10,000 this year in an effort to build housing in our region and around the world. In the past nine years, the ¾¨Ó㴫ý's chapter has raised over $115,000 to support the work of Habitat.
