Four ¾¨Ó㴫ý students recently received Sharonsteel Foundation scholarships. Local honorees are Casey Gadsby, Melanie Piddington, Matthew Snyder, and Sarah Wright.
The Sharonsteel Foundation continues its legacy by appointing four area ¾¨Ó㴫ý students each year as grant recipients. Criteria for candidate selection includes: being a Mercer County resident, grade point average, merit, financial need, leadership potential, and extra curricular initiative. The Foundation has a similar program in place at the Shenango Campus of the Pennsylvania State University.
Recipents are:
Jackson Center, PA
Casey Gadsby is a daughter of Mark and Charlene Spence, 1121 Franklin Road. Gadsby, a senior biology major, is a graduate of Lakeview High School.
Mercer, PA
Matthew Snyder is a son of Bill and Karly Snyder, 602 E. Beaver St. Snyder, a sophomore English major, is a graduate of Mercer High School.
Sharon, PA
Melanie Piddington is a daughter of Linda Piddington, 324 Independence Court, and George Piddington. Piddington, a junior sociology/criminal justice major, is a graduate of Sharon High School.
Wheatland, PA
Sarah Wright is a daughter of Sharon Wright, 125 Broadway. Wright, a freshman mathematics and English major, is a graduate of Farrell Area High School.
