¾¨Ó㴫ý Students Compete in Singing Competition

Five ¾¨Ó㴫ý students recently competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) regional competition held in Pittsburgh.

Baritone Sean Taylor, a junior music education major from Brookville, won second place in the Junior Men's Classical Voice Division. He sang "The Vagabond." Taylor is a son of Linda Taylor, 38 Pennsylvania Ave., and David Taylor. He is a graduate of Brookville Are High School.

Bass Brian Barrett, a senior music performance major from Meadville, took second place in the Senior Men's Classical Voice Division singing, "Bright is the Ring of Words." Barrett is a son of Bruce and Gayle Barrett, 601 Chestnut St., and a graduate of Meadville Area High School.

Also competing were:

Angela Lattanzio, a daughter of Thomas and Gloria Lattanzio, 142 Rogers Drive., Clinton. Lattanzio, a senior elementary education and music major, is a graduate of South Side High School.

Rachel Varine, a daughter of John and Gail Varine, Vandergrift. Varine, a sophomore music performance major, is a graduate of Leechburg Area High School.

Stephanie Nicholson is a daughter of Marvin and Sharon Nicholson, 7574 Hidden Acres Drive, Medina, Ohio. Nicholson, a freshman music performance and music education major, is a graduate of Medina High School.

"NATS was founded in 1944, and each year sponsors district, regional and national vocal competitions throughout the United States," said Dr. Anne Bentz, assistant professor of music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. "Students from high school through college and beyond participate in these competitions. Congratulations are in order to all of these students who represented ¾¨Ó㴫ý, and to our two winners for their excellent performances."
