¾¨Ó㴫ý psychology majors can now earn a master's degree in occupational therapy through a partnership with Duquesne University.

"Students will complete their four years at ¾¨Ó㴫ý with a major in psychology that includes all the prerequisites needed for admission to the occupational therapy masters program at Duquesne," said Dr. Alan Gittis, professor of psychology at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. "Students may apply as early as their freshman year, and slots in the master's program will be reserved for them.

"The field of occupational therapy overlaps with psychologists who are practitioners in community mental health," continued Gittis. "Psychologist help their clients adjust to life-changing events, and occupational therapists help their clients in activities of daily living.

"The program provides students with exposure to the occupational therapy program before graduation, and guaranteed admittance, but those who choose a different direction, can easily do so and still graduate with a bachelors in psychology," Gittis added.
