Dr. Bethany Hicok, assistant professor of English at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, will continue ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Faculty Forum Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 311.
"My talk, "Ordering a Box of Maniacs': Contexts of Desire in the Work of Sylvia Plath," focuses on the connections between Sylvia Plath's development as a writer, and her experiences at Smith College in the 1950s," said Hicok. "I am primarily interested in constructions of gender in the 1950s women's college environment. I look at women and sexuality, questions of marriage and family, and women and ambition."
Hicok, who joined ¾¨Ó㴫ý in 2001, earned her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College, and her master's and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.
