¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Hosting Education Seminars

The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will host a series of education clinics.Ìý "Ethics and Accountability for School Administrators" is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with lunch to follow in the Lakeview Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.

ÌýFeatured speakers include Dr. Blair Kucinski, former superintendent at Leechburg, and Dr. Glenn Smartchan, former superintendent at Mt. Lebanon.Ìý Both educators are consultants to the Study Council, specializing in accountability issues related to improving teaching and learning.

ÌýThe program will focus on a presentation and discussion of the changing role and expectations of school leaders in an age of accountability for student learning and the resulting ethical issues that are pressing upon schools and threatening the moral compass of educators to do the right things for students and parents.Ìý Both speakers are highly experienced former veteran superintendents who have researched and written thoughtfully on ethics and its implications for school leaders.

ÌýSeveral other programs are scheduled in the coming months.Ìý They include: Developing a High Performance School or School System dinner Nov. 23; Science Literacy lunch, Jan. 20; School Law Update lunch, March 17; and Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum dinner, April 7.

ÌýThe event is sponsored by the Tri-State Area School Study Council Department of Administrative Policy Studies at the School of Education of the University of Pittsburgh in collaboration with the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.
