The multi-talented musician, singer, and actor Bobby Vinton will entertain the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Celebrity Series audience Saturday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

"It's sure to be a dazzling concert event that will showcase one of popular music's most beloved artists," said Gene DeCaprio, ¾¨Ó㴫ý director of the Celebrity Series. "He will be joined by an orchestra and family members to sing his greatest hits including Roses are Red,' Blue Velvet,' and Melody of Love.'"

Vinton, who was born in Canonsburg, formed his own band at 16 and played at clubs around the Pittsburgh area, which helped to finance his college education at Duquesne University. While at college, Vinton became proficient in various instruments including piano, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, drums, and oboe and graduated with a degree in musical composition.

After serving in the Army, Vinton and his band appeared on Guy Lombardo's "TV Talent Scouts," which landed him a four-week contract with Epic Records and began his extraordinary career as a vocalist. After "Roses Are Red" climbed to the number one position and sold over four million records, his string of hits continued. Vinton was awarded over a dozen gold records and albums during his career and sold over 75 million records.

Good seats are still available. Contact Connie McGinnis, assistant director of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Celebrity Series, at (724) 946-7354 or e-mail mcginncl@westminster.edu or visit for more information.
