Dr. Caroline Oltmanns, internationally recognized pianist, will perform a recital Sunday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
Her program includes Beethoven's "Sonate in D. Dur, op.28;" Wilding's "Fantasy for Piano" from The Oracle at Delphi; Brahms' "Sonate No. 3 in f minor, op5;" and several numbers by Chopin.
Oltmanns, a native of Germany, is an associate professor of piano at Youngstown State University. She received her undergraduate degree from Staatliche Musikhochschule Freiberg, and her master's and DMA from the University of Southern California. Oltmanns is a Fulbright Scholar and International Steinway Artist.
She has recorded several solo and chamber music CDs on labels including Filia Mundi. Her latest solo CD with Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata and works by Scarlatti, Schubert and Debussy was released in September 2006. Oltmanns has performed in: Steinway Hall and Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City; Preston Bradley Hall in Chicago; Leo Bing Theater at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Redlands Bowl. She has also performed in Germany, France, Switzerland, and South Africa.
