Teaching Mathematics Colloquium Held at ¾¨Ó㴫ý

¾¨Ó㴫ý's Mathematics and Computer Science Department and the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning sponsored a teaching colloquium Sept. 25.

Hosted by Dr. Warren Hickman, professor of mathematics, the colloquium was held in conjunction with his MATH/ED 431 Teaching Mathematics in the Secondary School course.

¾¨Ó㴫ý alumni and high school mathematics teachers Janet Dzuricsko Dykstra '88, Brian Fadden '06, Matthew Reel '98, and Sara Lieb Schenker '01 shared insights and advice relating to their personal experiences as secondary mathematics teachers in an informal discussion. The colloquium was open to all mathematics majors and minors interested in certification to teach mathematics.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was created to enrich undergraduate education at ¾¨Ó㴫ý through advancing world-class teaching as well as by participating in collaborations that address community and regional needs including strengthening K-12 education.
