Dr. Jamie McMinn, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of psychology, will speak at Faculty Forum Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.
His topic, "The Role of Physical Attractiveness and Gender on Students' Perceptions of Sexual Orientation Stability," will focus on two experiments he conducted with Brett Turk, a senior psychology-human resources major from New Castle, on the role physical attractiveness plays in perceptions of how stable sexual orientation is.
"I will discuss how the results from our experiments compare with those from correlational studies, and I will also discuss the student-faculty relationship in the context of undergraduate research," McMinn said.
McMinn has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2003. He earned his undergraduate degree from Emory & Henry College and his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.
