Dr. Sherri Pataki, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of psychology, and five ¾¨Ó㴫ý students attended the annual conference of the Peace and Justice Studies Association in Elizabethtown Sept. 27-29.
The conference was hosted by Elizabethtown College and the Baker Institute of Juniata College. The conference theme, "Cultural Identity in a Mass Culture World," explored issues of identity and gender politics; ethnicity; nationalism and contact and integration among and between cultures; and the intersections of these issues in the modern world.
Pataki has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2004. She earned her undergraduate degree from Allegheny College and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University.
The students, who are taking the Introduction to Peace Studies course, are:
Ethan Frey, a sophomore exploratory major, is a son of Nancy Frey of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Elmer L. Myers High School.
Jelena Gerga, a senior international politics and political science major, is a daughter of Gabriel and Aurelia Gerga of Lakewood, Ohio, and a graduate of Lakewood High School.
William McCallion, a sophomore history major, is a son of Mark McCallion of Erie and a graduate of Iroquois High School.
Jocelyn Moelk, a junior sociology major, is a daughter of James and Jaye Moelk of Fairview and a graduate of McDowell High School.
Catherine Mohr, an exploratory major, lives in New Wilmington.
