¾¨Ó㴫ý senior Diana Conzett and Dr. Bethany Hicok presented their research at the Sylvia Plath 75th Year Symposium in Oxford, England, Oct. 25-28.

They were supported by grants from the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Drinko Center and the Heritage Chair in the Humanities.

Conzett, a senior English major, is a daughter of David and Kimberly Conzett of Hubbard, Ohio, and a graduate of Hubbard High School. She presented her paper, "Creative Creatures," at the conference.

Hicok, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of English and Conzett's adviser, presented "'Order[ing] a box of maniacs': Questions of Power in the Bee Poems" at the conference.

Dr. Virginia Tomlinson, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of sociology and director of the Drinko Center, said, "The participation of Dr. hicok and Diana Conzett in this conference represents a perfect example of faculty-student research. Based on her research of Plath's work, Dr. Hicok taught a course last year in which Diana began her own project. Participation in the conference not only recognizes Dr. Hicok's scholarship in this area, but also her contribution to supporting and nurturing undergraduate research and scholarship."

All grant recipients are invited to participate in the Undergraduate Research Symposium held on campus in the spring.

Hicok, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2001, earned an undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College, and master's degrees and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.
