Posted on Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Dr. Sandra Webster, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of psychology and faculty development officer, presented "Creating and Maintaining a Classroom Culture of Respect" at the Professional Organization of Developers national conference in Pittsburgh, Oct. 25-28.

The 90-minute interactive workshop was given to 40 of the 800 faculty developers attending the conference.

"This was a report of the work I began two years ago for a fall faculty workshop and continued this fall for a follow-up survey," Webster said. "The purpose of the study is to understand how students and faculty members at ¾¨Ó㴫ý perceive respect in the classroom. The results will help us design faculty development programs that foster a culture of respect."

Webster, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1983, earned an undergraduate degree, a master's, and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
