Dr. Samuel Lightner, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor and chair of the Department of Physics, attended the national meeting of the American Physical Society (APS) April 12-15 in St. Louis.
Lightner serves on the executive committee of the Forum on Education (FEd), a sub-group of the APS that sponsored a number of sessions at the meeting.
The Forum on Education involves its members in activities related to physics education at all educational stages, from elementary to graduate school and lifelong learning.
Lightner, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1970, earned an undergraduate degree from Randolph-Macon College and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
