Posted on Wednesday, September 3, 2008

The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning awarded an undergraduate research grant to Michelle Johnston, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý senior biology major.

Johnston's research, "The Effects of pH on the Impacts of Glyphosate on Larval Rana catesbeiana," is advised by Dr. Shahroukh Mistry, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of biology.

Johnston is a daughter of Ray and Kimberly Johnston of Beaver Falls and a graduate of Blackhawk High School.

"An important component of the work of the Drinko Center is to enhance opportunities for undergraduate research," said Dr. Terri Lenox, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center. "The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences."

All grant recipients have the opportunity to participate in ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Undergraduate Research Symposium in April.
