¾¨Ó㴫ý will celebrate Constitution Day 2008 with an activity-based lecture about the electoral college Friday, Sept. 19, at 12:15 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Constitution Day is observed each year on or about Sept. 17 to commemorate the signing of the Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. Originally named Citizenship Day, recent legislation renamed it Constitution and Citizenship Day.
A brief discussion will follow the presentation and a gift certificate to Rachel's Roadhouse will be awarded to the ¾¨Ó㴫ý student who correctly answers the most questions on an electoral college quiz.
Dr. Timothy Cuff, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of history and 1978 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate, is coordinating the event, which is sponsored by ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Department of History and Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. Department faculty who will help with quiz scoring are: Dr. A. Dwight Castro, professor of classics; Dr. Patricia Clark, assistant professor of history; Dr. Russell Martin, associate professor of history; and Dr. David Twining, professor of history.
