Posted on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

William Kochemba, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý senior chemistry major, received an undergraduate research grant from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

His research, "Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanide Complexes Containing Tripodal Schiff-Base Derived Ligands," is advised by Dr. Peter Smith, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of chemistry.

Kochemba is a son of Brenda Kochemba-Heck and Chris Heck of Grove City and a graduate of Grove City Area High School.

"An important component of the work of the Drinko Center is to enhance opportunities for undergraduate research," said Dr. Terri Lenox, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center. "The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences."

All grant recipients have the opportunity to participate in ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Undergraduate Research Symposium in April.
