Sociology Professor to Participate in Women's Bar Association Panel

Dr. Phyllis Kitzerow, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of sociology, will be a panelist for the 20th anniversary continuing legal education program of the Women's Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania Jan. 28.

The program will be held in the Urban Room on the 17th floor of the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m., followed by the program from 1:15-4:45 p.m. The event is open to the public.

Kitzerow will serve on the panel discussing strides made by women attorneys in the last five years and how issues facing females in the legal profession have changed during that time.

In 2005, the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) commissioned a survey of its members regarding career paths and income. The results indicated considerable gender disparities with respect to salaries and career advancement. Kitzerow co-authored the final report, The Legal Profession: A Study of the ACBA Membership, 2005.

Kitzerow, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 1978, earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
