¾¨Ó㴫ý will host children's author Greg Tang for a math workshop Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Maple Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Tang is the author of The Grapes of Math; Math for All Seasons; The Best of Times; Math Appeal; Math-terpieces; Math Fables; Math Potatoes; and Math Fables Too. The one-hour workshop will explore a commonsense approach to numbers based in simple grouping strategies that develops good number sense and strong computational and problem-solving skills. Math will be integrated with literature and art to address multiple learning styles and communicate more effectively to students. The goal of this session is to re-energize and inspire.
The workshop, sponsored by ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Department of Education with support from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by Monday, March 23, as space is limited to 200 guests. A certificate of attendance will be provided.
