Opera ¾¨Ó㴫ý will present "A Night at the Opera" Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
¾¨Ó㴫ý students in the spring Opera Workshop will perform scenes from Hansel and Gretel; L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love); Martha, Moses; Un ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball); and Lucia di Lammermoor.
The event is coordinated by stage director Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of music.
"There is a favorite story or a beautiful familiar melody in the program for everyone," Bentz said. "This is an opportunity to learn about opera by watching these talented students perform."
Assisting in the production are ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty Mihai Valcu as conductor and Marie Libal-Smith as accompanist. An orchestra of ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty, students, and guest artists will provide instrumental support.
