¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning announced 22 ¾¨Ó㴫ý students were selected as Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania (SISPA) for 2009-2010.

SISPA is an opportunity for students to become involved in the Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Initiative at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, while receiving financial support for their education. Students agree to complete 300 hours of service in a year (Aug. 2009-Aug. 2010) and earn a $1,000 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award which can be used for any educational expense at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, be applied to eligible student loans, or be held for seven years to pay for future educational expenses.

At ¾¨Ó㴫ý, the program is overseen by the Drinko Center and coordinated by Bethany South, a 2008 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate who serves as PACC*VISTA.

Students work with a variety of service agencies, including: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Lawrence County Community Action Partnership, Habitat for Humanity, ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Residence Life program, and Walker House after-school program.
