Eight ¾¨Ó㴫ý students will spend their spring break teaching basic baseball skills to elementary students March 6-14 in Deadman's Cay, Long Island, Bahamas.

The students will lead an after-school baseball camp at Caribbean Youth Network's Oasis Youth Center and wrap up the week with a tournament. One of the prerequisites for students attending this trip is prior experience with baseball or softball.

The group, organized through ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Chapel Office, will be accompanied by Dwayne Pavkovich, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant football coach. They will be working through Caribbean Youth Network, a Pittsburgh-based mission organization.

An area Little League program has donated equipment, bats, uniforms, and trophies, but the group still needs baseball gloves for children ages five-12. All gloves need to be in the Chapel Office by Friday, March 5.

Contact ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Chapel Office at (724) 946-7117 for more information or to donate a baseball glove.

In addition to the Bahamas group, additional ¾¨Ó㴫ý students will be involved with spring break work trips to Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance), and Birmingham, Alabama (Habitat for Humanity).

Nearly 65% of ¾¨Ó㴫ý students volunteered last year, over twice the national average (26.4% of the U.S. population) and more than 50% higher than the national average for college students (42.5%). ¾¨Ó㴫ý has been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America's communities for four consecutive years.
