Internationally Acclaimed Pianist and Cellist to Perform at ¾¨Ó㴫ý

Dr. Nancy DeSalvo, pianist, chair, and assistant professor of music at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, and Dr. Stephen Framil, cellist and international recording artist, will give a recital Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.

"Dr. Framil and I will perform Prokofieff Sonata in C Major,' Shostakovich Sonata,' and other selections," DeSalvo said.

DeSalvo joined the ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty in 1991 as piano artist-in-residence and adjunct faculty member in the Department of Music.  In 2000, her appointment was changed to full-time status as an assistant professor of music, and she has recently assumed the position of chair of the department. 

DeSalvo performs as pianist with the Amici Trio and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.  She has also been a guest soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.  She was added to the distinguished international roster of  Steinway Artists in 2002.

An active soloist and chamber musician, Framil's 2004/2005 season includes solo debut appearances with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra in the Philippines, Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, Carson City Symphony Orchestra in Nevada, and the Russian National Library Symphony Orchestra in St. Petersburg. 

Framil has held professor of music positions at the University of Delaware and Andrews University.  He served as visiting artist/lecturer at the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Choir College, as conductor at the 2002 Hong Kong Youth Music Camp, and adjudicated the 56th Hong Kong Schools of Music Festival Competition.
