¾¨Ó㴫ý's Department of Music presented "An Evening of Instrumental Chamber Music" March 8.
The String Ensemble performed "Vivace" from Bach's Concerto in D minor. The ensemble includes freshman Laura Chambers and Dr. Kang-Yup Na, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of religion. They were accompanied by Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, associate professor of music, on piano.
The Percussion Ensemble performed Bob Becker's arrangement of George Hamilton Green's "The Ragtime Robin."Â Featuring senior Timothy Matyas in a xylophone solo, members of the ensemble on marimba included seniors Joshua Sarchet and Kevin Tomb, sophomore Devin Greig, and freshman Cody Floyd.
The Horn Ensemble offered two selections: Marvin Howe's arrangement of Mahler's "Zwei Blauen Augen" from Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and James Emerson's arrangement of Verdi's "Grand March" from Aida. The ensemble includes seniors Monica Ruhlman and Victoria Walker, juniors Daniel Giles and Jillian Rhen, sophomore Haley Hidock, and Floyd.
The Saxophone Ensemble presented two selections. Gabriel Pierne's "Introduction et Variations sur une ronde populaire" featured senior Aaron McAfee on soprano saxophone, senior Shawn Sisler on alto saxophone, junior Deanna Nebel on tenor saxophone, and sophomore Alexander Weil on baritone saxophone.Â
Sammy Nestico's "The Demure" and "The Delightful" from A Study in Contrasts was performed by sophomore Keely Bedner on soprano saxophone, freshman Allison Wilson on alto saxophone, freshman Emily Hilliard on tenor saxophone, and Weil on baritone saxophone.
The Clarinet Trio - junior Jerrianne Larson and freshmen Brittany Howe and John Stumpff - presented Jacques Bouffil's "Fourth Trio for Clarinets, Movement 2."
Alberto Ginastera's "Sonata" and "Pastorale" from Duo for Flute and Oboe was performed by senior Sara Eliser (oboe) and sophomore Evan Wildhack (flute) as the Flute and Oboe Duo.
The Flute Choir played Patrick Daily's arrangement of Borodin's "Notturno."Â Members of the choir include senior Lauren Sidun; juniors Jessica Geiger, Katie Ellen John, and Rebecca Schuster; sophomores Sarah Avery, Dana Luteran, Carolyn Nicholas, Christine Whited, and Wildhack; and freshmen Lauren Clauser and Rebekah Sears.
